Shows don't show up on ATV

So here's what I do...

Take an AVI
Use HB to convert it to m4v
Drag the m4v onto iTunes, and tag it

So why doesn't that appear in the list on my ATV? It _appears_ that I have to quit/restart iTunes and then wait. Is there something I can change to get this to update more quickly?

are you adding them to the library in any way?

I think you can put them in the folder to automatically add them, or what I do is move them to the folder, then command click and open with itunes. it adds them to my library. I also have it set to not copy the file, but leave it in its origiginal location.

I am dragging them into iTunes, which copies it into the library.
