if i have SHSH on my iphone( 3g jb'd and unlocked at 3.0.1)
im not sure what SHSH is
is there any way to check to see if i have SHSH?
or get the SHSH on the cydia to restore my iphone to 3.0 official firmware freely?
thanks~!:D

look up cydia....openssh

then get a prog like 'fugu' and ssh into your iphone to config files

there is plenty of help on how to do this via youtube. hackthatphone.com has one too

SHSH is for 3GS only (Saurik server)
SSH is used with OpenSSH on phone

The main page in Cydia will tell you in green at the very top whether you have your ECID SHSH on file. If you do, you can use it to trick iTunes into installing previous versions of the firmware on your 3GS. iTunes will normally refuse to install anything but the most recent firmware.

Quick question while we're on the SHSH's topic.
A friend just got a new 3GS yesterday that had 3.1.2 installed so I jailbroke it for him. On cydia it asked if you want to save the SHSH files and I clicked yes "make my life Easier" button.
But since Apple stopped signing them for previous firmware before the 3.1.3 then chances are he wont be able to get them on Sauriks server correct?

I think that depends whether you jailbroke it today or yesterday. I'm not sure exactly when Apple stopped signing 3.1.2 requests so I don't know if you made the cutoff or not.

It will say right on the top of the main page of Cydia in green type what SHSHs he has on file. If it doesn't say anything, then he does not have any, and it's too late to get them now.

According to Apple it was 24 hours after 3.1.3 was released, but people were complaining about it the same afternoon.

Obviously, Apple was "fibbing".
