I bought a shuffle about two months ago and yesterday it died unexpectedly only about 2 hours after charging. Now when I plug it in and look in itunes the battery bar only charges to 50% no matter how long I leave it there. At first the lightning bolt wasn't even showing up, but even when it does, the ipod still isn't actually charging. I've already restored it, but that didn't do anything. Tried using the outlet adapter that came with my iphone, and that didn't work either.

The closest Apple store is 2.5 hours away and I'd rather not send it in even though it's under warranty, since I use the thing every day. Any help would be appreciated.

I would send it to an Apple store. I know that you don't want to but you will have to to have this baby replaced. It could be a battery problem or its a software problem preventing it from charging.
