Just got meself a shuffle and plugged it into my keyboard (the one that came with my iMac G4) it was flashing orange for bit and then it stopped. I could transfer songs to it no problem, but not charge it.

It charges fine in the USB at the back of the machine, but I'd rather have it in the keyboard. Anyone knows what to do?

The USB port on your keyboard isn't powered, that's why your shuffle won't charge. You need to plug it in a powered port, like the ones on your computer, or on a USB hub with an external power adapter.

Shame on me

quote from apples supportsite:

"To charge a iPod shuffle battery, connect the device to a high-power USB port. Please be aware that USB keyboards and non-powered USB hubs generally do not have high-power USB ports. If you connect to a low or non-powered port, iPod shuffle will not charge."

i don't know for sure, but maybe the kb usb isn't powered enough? if the only power supply on the keyboard is the connection to the computer there might not be enough juice to charge something, just run it.

*if i am wrong, then it is early and i am delusional. my apologies.*

Or you can buy the iPod shuffle dock. It's a more elegant solution.
