Other shutter lag time

I am trying to choose an iPhone. My primary concern is photography.

I like to take "decisive moment" photos of people. I've noticed, with my current phone 5, that there is a considerable lag time between when I press the button, and when the phone actually takes the picture. The child's expression was perfect when I pressed the shutter button, but by the time the camera actually records the image, that expression has vanished.

Which iPhone has the shortest shutter lag time?

Secondarily, I'd be very interested to know which iPhone is the fastest to open the camera app. Does having more memory affect the responsiveness of the iPhone?

The iPhone 5 is slow. I have one too in my drawer. Newer phones are faster.

Try taking a picture by pressing one of the volume buttons on the side of the phone instead of touching the red dot on the screen.
Also try pre focusing and exposure lock before trying to snap a picture.
Digital cameras have a long history of shutter lag due to autofocus and auto exposure calculations and adjustment.

The newer phones are basically shooting all the time. When you push the "shutter" it just grabs the last photo. Makes for a quick response.
