What's the shutter life of a Canon 400D? I know that the more expensive Canons are rated at 100,000 or 200,000 cycles. Anyone know what to expect with a 400D?

Well, having just done a quick search online, I've seen as high as 100,000 cycles... but a few sites said that Canon adjusted it to 50,000. Quite a discrepancy.
So, I have 3439 pictures taken since 9/30. Figure I deleted several hundred. That's about 7000 a year--and I'm definitely picking up the pace. Sounds OK for my usage. If I can go 10 years replacing the shutter once, I'll be happy.
And since we are on the topic, do shutters suddenly stop working or does their performance degrade over time, until they are unusable?

I think he meant do they keep working until one day they just crap out, or is it a slow gradual process?

make sure it's a long exposure, that should be awesome.
A friend of mine recently repaired his Nikon D100. The shutter would work about half the time and get stuck, making a noticeable and slightly painful noise the other half of the time. (or maybe it was 70/30, or whatever, but you get the idea.)
