What's the shutter life of a Canon 400D? I know that the more expensive Canons are rated at 100,000 or 200,000 cycles. Anyone know what to expect with a 400D?
And since we are on the topic, do shutters suddenly stop working or does their performance degrade over time, until they are unusable?
Am close to 7000 cycles on my 5 month old 400D, so i'll be happy if the shutter lasts me 5 years.
usually on or around the 100,000th click, the shutter explodes in an amazing pyrotechnic display. It's quite a sight.

Wait a minute, you mean they are actually programmed to self-destruct on a specific cycle number? That's so cool, i can't wait for my first shutter bang!
