Shutting down iMac screen with external LCD?

I've done a lot of searching and a lot of reading and I have confirmed that you can mirror or expand your desktop over the entirety of the iMac screen plus an external screen....but what if...

What if you want to power the external screen but completely disable the internal iMac screen so that your video card is only having to push 1 monitor?

Is their a setting I have not found or read about that allows me to completely disable the internal LCD while still displaying onto the external LCD?

FYI, Alum 2.4 iMac 20"

I'm not entirely sure but off the top of my head I would have to say no, I don't think its possible.

Eww, that doesn't bode well for what you do if the internal LCD goes bad either. hehe
