Is there a setting that will allow you to shut the MacBook's lid while leaving it still powered up?

I'm going to be using mine for location field recording, and would like to be able to close the lid occasionally while still running.

Thanks in advance!

If you used the search function you would see that this topic has been discussed at least 3 times in the last month.

The only way I know of doing it is with a program called SleepLess.

Use google.

On the other hand, a lot of people, my wife included, use their MacBooks closed, connected to an external monitor. Without any problems.

I'm firmly in the camp of those who see no problem with running notebooks with the lid closed...as long as it's a machine Apple has designed to support clamshell mode with the externals.

I wouldn't do it on my old iBook that vented through the keyboard, but I'd have no qualms about doing it with my PowerBook.

well that's good news for when I get an external. I always thought it was a no-no.
