I have all external stuff(LCD/Keyboard/Mouse) hooked up to my macbook so id like to be able to close the screen but it goes into sleep. I cant find anything in the preferences, im lost

btw: im a switcher so im still a newb to X

its also fullscreen now on my LCD instead of widescreen with black bars

If you press the F7 key when you have two monitors hooked up, you can switch to dual monitor mode instead of mirroring (which is probably why you have the black bars). So you'll have a full screen external LCD and the Macbook 13" to use :)

That is the funny thing- most things are so simple on the mac that we tend to make them harder than they really are and sometimes can't find them...I would not have thought to tap the keyboard either and I have been on the Mac for 17 years!
