How do I shut my MBP's lid without it going to sleep?

I have been to system preferences->energy saver and there is no option from keeping it from sleeping when the lid is shut...Any help will be appreciated...

Attaching a screen, keyboard and mouse before closing the lid should do the trick. There are instructions somewhere on the Apple site.

there is a much simpler solution to your problem. There is a program called SleepLess for Mac OSX that is specifically designed for this problem.

This program stops the computer from falling asleep when you close the lid.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Danny...I appreciate it....I was starting to think I was a moron LOL because I couldn't find that option anywhere....

Also assuming you have a keyboard, mouse and monitor attached when you close the lid, let the computer go to sleep then wake it with a keyboard press. That's what I do.

ATTENTION! Lid-closed operation on Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Intel) is broken. We are trying now to understand the problem and find a solution.

Right now there are no apps that will work on 10.4.8 including insomiaX. So it will still go to sleep if you close the lid for now. Plus the reviews on Sleepless didnt look good either
