sidebar disappeared

okay,
while uploading a file for emailing via chrome or firefox or opera...the finder sidebar disappeared as soon as I got this OS

second, the actual sidebar in finder disappeared 3 days ago, ca someone tell me how to re-enable it?
i might have messed some setting...is there an option to show/hide the sidebar?


also, this seems to be real disappearance as I dragged 2 folders onto the sidebar and they are still shown up there...meaning the sidebar is visible ---just that i LOST THE OLD SIDEBAR...SOMETHING I HAD MADE SINCE MANY YEARS...NOT SURE HOW ILL GET IT BACK...NOT SURE HOW ILL REMEMBER THE FOLDER LOCATIONS TO ACTUALLY PUT THEM BACK IN THE SIDEBAR... :'(


anyone else had the same problem?

btw im referring to the FAVOURITES sidebar on the LHS of the finder window...
