iMac running 10.6.7. Had a new hard disc 1.5 Tb, partitioned it in 3 x 500Mb and then restored from Time machine back up into the 1st partition.

At this point I had some folders on the menu sidebar as before. However, I moved the actual folders into the 2nd partition and soon discovered that the sidebar folders did not produce the folders. Moving the newly positioned folders to the sidebar did, of course, do the business. BUT I cannot get rid of the redundant previous sidebar folders. They do not highlight when clicked, right hand click only offers 'open sidebar preferences', you can drag with left click, but not to the trash.

Any ideas?

Partitions

Is there some reason you feel the need to partition?[/QUOTE]

Well, I had been running two LaCie external hard drives each of 500Gb, one containing one element of my work, and the other the other element. It seemed kinda neat to maintain the distinction with partitions. But now you ask the question....
