In the past, I connected my iPad directly to the MBP using a USB-C cable, with the WiFi turned off on the iPad, in order to force it to use the USB-C. However, now, it complains, even though the iPad and MBP are connected by USB-C, that:

"Sidecar can’t connect wirelessly because your iPad’s Wi‑Fi is not available. To use Sidecar wirelessly, turn on Wi‑Fi and make sure it is not in use for Personal Hotspot."

Is this a new behavior with Sidecar and Monterey that it requires WiFi turned on the iPad?

Hmm, now I'm uncovering some behavior where I've reset location & privacy, and I don't even get the "trust your Mac" option. Moreover, the charging indicator to the iPad keeps flickering on and off. Very weird.
