ita been a while since I have used DP or PB OS builds. Do they just eventually upgrade into the final release version? I think the public bet does but what about developer preview?

Public Beta get final release.
Also Developer get the final release too but theirs called GM.
And if you stay on developer, you will get future beta version too as they coming for developer before their final release, it was like that when I was on the El Capitan Developer Preview and then GM came and then the beta version after that.
