So since everyone is having a bad time with iOS 10, I decided to make this thread for all you peeps out there who just did the update today, to share your usage. How's the battery life on MacOS Sierra? Same as El Capitan?

Been using MacOS Sierra for only about 10 minutes and I can tell the battery life has worsened. This. Always. Happens.

So it hasn't changed from the betas? Battery is still draining fast?

Wait for a bit before asking.

Everyone who updates will have a LOT of background processing happening when they first install

True. Just wanted to start the thread so people can share their usage as it happens :)

I'm planning to upgrade, but worried if it'll reduce my battery life just like iOS 10 did :(

I am not having a bad time with either iOS or Sierra. Absolutely no changes to battery life. Yeah but everyone is having a bad time. LOL

The battery life is good to very good. I still get a day of working performance on conferences or meetings, which means that I can drop the charger. As to quantifiable measures, I doubt that anyone except Apple would bother to do any.

P.S. this is on 2015 rmbp with dGPU

I've had terrible battery life since El Capitan, nothing has changed with Sierra. Getting 3.5 hours on my rMBP 2012, I used to get 5.5 hours in Yosemite.

Battery life for me is about the same, even with a failing battery I can get quiet a few hours out of it (early 2013 rMBP). My battery health is at 75% after 690 cycles, but that is no true indication as my rMPB dies without warning at around 21% most of the time but that is after 3 hours or so of use.
Bizarrely the upgrade got rid of the annoying "Service Battery" message that had been present for a month or so, and its not come back yet.

I updated to macOS Sierra and the battery life is pretty much the same as El Capitan.

battery life is definitely shorter, significantly.
I have a 2014 MBP and now I have to charge it at least twice daily.(used to be once daily max)
obviously same usage and no new app installed.all same as before.
it was an upgrade on El Capitan.
this is bad.:(

Wait for it to finish indexing the files and cleaning up trash from the installation process. My Macbook Pro 13 inch early 2011's battery lasts longer on Sierra, although the graphics performance in gestures slowed down a bit (but yay reduced motion)

I'm hoping on 10.12.2 for battery improvement. I think .1 was more about big bugs and features for the new releases.

You should do a clean install. That's what I did. Battery life is pretty similar to El Capitan now.

I did clean install twice, the battery life is horrible, watched a movie for 2 hours, the battery dropped from 82%to 14%.
