After installing the Sierra GM on my MacBook Pro (2.8 GHz intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM), the fans are running almost constantly, and the computer itself seems to be warmer than before. Anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions what could be wrong? I've checked Activity Monitor, but couldn't see any particularly cpu consuming processes.

That should be from your MacBook processing your photo library. It is the same with me (similar 15'' MacBook) and my cpu got really hot - i think the gpu got a high as 100 degrees.
Try unplugging your machine, since it automatically stops the processing if you are not charging it.

I see – in that case, it should at least be done at some point.

I guess the photo library processing as well. My Wife's profiles have more than 60k photos, and it takes almost 12hr now to process 1/3 of them. The process will keep taxing the CPU which generate lots of heat.

It appears that the processing of the photo library is done. But something called "racoon" is at the top of the CPU column in Activity Monitor. Any idea what it's doing?

Yes - the last two betas brought with them a much higher running temperatures and nearly constant fan running (at high speed). I have reported this to Apple (obviously a known issue, as it was already included in the drop down menu for issues in Feedback Assistant).

Good to hear it's not only here. Hopefully it will be fixed befor the final release.

Glad I searched this...threw the latest beta on for the first time today because I didn't want to wait 4 more days...came bak to tmy MacBook Air and was wondering why the fan seemed to be running full blast, non-stop.

Now that I'm typing this and working on the computer, it seems to have stopped? Could the stock "random" screensaver really be causing it? Or some other background operation?

Well, here it hasn't stopped yet. The fans are going constantly, and the battery is drained in less than half the usual time.
