Hi all,

I am currently on El Capitan and it works fantastically well. Like perfect. I was on Maverick before, and it was a nightmare.

How does Sierra run on my 'old-ish' MBP? I have 8GB of RAM and 512GB (SSD, Samsung EVO840).

Thanks!

I had a similar question wrt a 2010 4GB MBA 13" as I went back to El Cap from 10.12.1 as 10.12.1 was terrible on this hardware. Well 10.12.4 beta 1 is running beautifully so far so kudos to Apple for letting the OS settle down. I think I'm getting to the point where I want to consign an ancient OS like El Cap to history.

I have a MacBook Pro 2010 with and SSD and 16 GB of RAM (have the 13" one where you can added 16GB). Sierra runs great with it. I like it better than EL Cap.

Thanks heaps, good to know, will upgrade then in the next few days.

Off topic: interesting enough how it was possible to add 16GB to the 13" model but only 8GB to the 15" from the same year.

If it's that good, perhaps your best bet is to "stay where you are" for the time being.

El Capitan is mature and stable.
Sierra, as yet, seems to remain "a work in progress".

Yes, I was surprised too and it appears that one 13" 2010 model is able to be upgraded to 16 GBs.
