So over at S7T I've notice more spammers joining lately, a few a week perhaps that I have to delete. Take this person for example. Now, the thing I don't understand is, I have image verificatin enabled, as well as email confirmation, how are these people registering? Can I increase the complexity of the image verification thing in phpBB?

None of them have posted anything yet, which is good, but it makes me nervous.

How does MR remain apparently spam-free or am I missing all the spam.

How do you know that they're spammers? Maybe they just.. Changed their minds about posting or doing anything?

Click the link in their profile.

EDIT: Actually, you probably shouldn't do that. The link in that particular person's profile leads to "SEX TOONS" - also, "sex" is listed as their interest.

I've had some viagara ones, but mostly pornographic ones.

We get those types too, but we remove them almost instantly.

Although there have been reports of techniques to automate forum registration, it usually takes human effort. But some spammers think it's worth the time/effort when they can advertise at somebody else's expense.

Having to remove such members is part of the "cost" to properly operate a forum system. Wouldn't it be nice if that too could be completely automated?
