Yeah. I just sent to get it serviced.
Apparently, the left cooling fan didn't work. I don't know if the laptop had that problem from the beginning, but it really explains a lot about the excess heat problem of my MBP.

Hopefully, after repair, the laptop will get cooler...

Anyhow, so much for Apple quality...
(my brother's MB RSD, and this.. Out of 4 macs my brother and I have, 2 are in service atm. nice job Apple)

it seems like my left fan is the only one in my MBP... i only hear/feel it from the left side, but the right side not a peep, is that normal?

How did you find out that you had a problem? Did it die or was it just too hot?
My MBP definitely needs service, but I just can't be without it for the next few months. Guess AppleCare is a good buy on these early intel units...

with only my left fan on (that i know of) my MBP gets pretty warm but my old iBook 12" got just as hot and it's been over a year now and it's still running great so i'm not too worried right now about my MBP... i'm just curious if it even has a right side fan... does anyone know how many fans a MBP actually has?

yeah it has a fan on the right side and left side. My MBP needs to go in for service since the right fan has now begun to squeal, chirp, howl, and scream whenever I try to render anything in FCP. Will the standard applecare warranty (1 year) cover it?

Yes, your warranty should cover that. We've replaced several Right Fan Assemblies (To use Apple's term) since the MBPs have been released.

Well it got too hot, but I'd been using an external laptop cooler for all time. However, when I had to take out the laptop outside and use, the laptop fan suddenly spinned up considerably. The noise was only coming from the right side. So yeah...

I think it's a little funny to use a laptop cooler to be able to use the thing comfortably... Lugging around both, kind of defeats the purpose of the portability aspect. Just a thought.

Good luck with your repair, and let us know how it turns out when you get it back.

apple sold too many macs recently, their quality control began to crack.

Didn't Apple sell a million Macs over the past year?

Since only people with problems complain, it is not like we have been seeing thousands of complaints on these forums either, so their quality control is still very very good.

Probably less than 0.01% defective units.

Just purchased Applecare for this MBP.

FYI, the last repair replaced following items.
PCBA, LIO/AUDIO (M1) MBPRO 15"
FLEX ASSY, LIO/AUDIO, M1
DA SEAGATE 2.5" MERC-2 5400 RPM SATA 80GB
FLEX ASSY,HDD/BT/IR,M1

Well the repair took about 2 weeks. I'm satisfied however.
Anyhow, the lack of quality on my MBP had made me very nervous, so that's why I bought Applecare.

Nice job Apple. You just earned about $230.00 because of lack of quality you've showed me

Download either smcfancontrol or the istat widget. Those will tell you whether your fans are running or not
