I'm planning to get a iphone 14 pro max for my wife this year, and i'd like to do it on IUP paying with my Apple card. I already have an IUP loan on my own phone, on launch day, can i sign up a 2nd IUP with her phone number but with my apple ID so it can be paid via my apple card?

Yes you can. It will attach to her number.
thanks. is there a field to enter her phone number? i don't remember i've seen one when i signed up my IUP last year, it was automatically linked to my phone, but i'm not 100% sure though.

I have the same issue. I currently have two phones (mine and wife's) on my IUP exactly for the reason OP mentioned (wanted to use Apple Card). I can't remember how I did it last year, but I think it was easy because when the phones arrived I just put her iPhone 12 SIM in the new 13. Now there is no physical SIM so I do not know how will I do it. When I open the Apple Store APP and go to the preparation page it shows the two phone that are eligible to upgrade but again, both show my number. Any suggestions?
