I'm trying to figure out which app is best for discreet, encrypted messaging. I used to always only use Telegram, until my Business Associates requested I download and use Signal. One thing I like about Telegram is I have to enter in my phone password for the App to even open.

The same can be done with Signal. Signal is a tried-and-tested secure app. Can't go wrong with it.

I've not used Telegram, so I don't know its setup process, but it seems to me that Signal's need to use your telephone number for others to reach you defeats some of the purpose, somehow.

I kinda miss the old Blackberry Messenger, which generated a user code that was your 'phone number' others used to reach you.

Everyone and their dog now brag about encryption, but if your phone number is out there, flapping in the breeze...

but couldnt a law enforcement officer just open your signal app and see everything?
its not like its invisible text that you have to enter a password to see?

Shady Guy, could also just hold a gun on your head, and say unlock it.
Well, waterboarding is also an option to get all your stuff.

Encryption isn’t always secure, as you can see. ?
