This was for express cards in laptops. I am looking for PCIe solutions

If you scroll through the thread, you'll see someone who had the same issue with their Si3132 drivers in the "standard" PCIe form factor.

Perhaps you're not aware, but ExpressCard is a form factor that rides the PCIe bus. The solutions you're referring to are another form factor of PCIe, but that doesn't technically make them any "more" PCIe than ExpressCard. Well, other than the fact ExpressCard is essentially dead.

Anyone get this to work?

Perhaps a bit late... but I have just gotten a Belkin PCIe card (F5U197) based on Si3132 silicon to work with the Sonnet's driver - found here : http://www.sonnettech.com/support/kb/kb.php?cat=339&expand=_a3&action=b146#b146

Interesting, this is the only place I've seen a Version 1.2.6 driver... (lots of mentions of the 1.2.5 driver, which is the latest on the SiliconImage website also).

The Sonnet driver claims to be 'Thunderbolt award'... perhaps this is the key...

Anyway, I hope it helps someone...

Did you get it running under mavericks?
What version MP?
Did you have to do anything with other kexts to get it to work?

MacPro early 2008; Mavericks 10.9.3; WORKS...

Thanks to the link from mgbman:

http://www.sonnettech.com/support/kb/kb.php?cat=339&expand=_a3&action=b146#b146

Installed, restarted and my external e-sata drive mounted.

MacPro pci to 2x e-sata card...

Apple Menu->About This Mac->System Report...->PCI Cards->pci1095,3132
"Other Mass Storage Controller"

I believe its from SilliconImage.com

I did transfer the SiliconImage3132.kext file from my previous 10.7 system to my current Mavericks/Library/Extensions folder, before installing the package from the link above.
No clue if this did the trick, I dare to assume the above mentioned installer did the trick not my manual attempts... ;-)

Michel

Early 2011 MacBook Pro 17"
16 GB RAM
500 GB Samsung EVO 840 SSD on MacBook Pro's 6 Gigabit internal SATA bus
MacOS Sierra 10.12.1 (upgrade installed from 10.10.5 with ALL apps and MacOS updates current)

Good news: This inexpensive card STILL WORKS for my 2TB Seagate Barracuda LP ST32000542AS Time Machine and 640GB Hitachi HDE721064SLA330 SuperDuper! backups... and is MUCH faster than using my MacBook Pro's built-in Firewire 800 or USB 2.0 ports!

Bad News: My MacBook Pro keeps CRASHING when I remove my Merax (Silicon Image) SI3132 dual eSATA Xpress card, even after reinstalling the SiI3132_1.2.5.0_Sil_Pkg drivers (www.siliconimage.com/docs/SiI3132_1.2.5.0_Sil_Pkg.zip) like I did after upgrading to OS X 10.8, 10.9 and 10.10 (I skipped 10.11) since EVERY MacOS upgrade moved the "SiCoreService" and "SiliconImage3132.kext" files to a root level "Incompatible Software" folder

This CRASH ON REMOVAL was previously fixed by reinstalling the SiI3132_1.2.5.0 drivers after the MacOS upgrade... but with MacOS Sierra 10.12.1 this hasn’t cured this CRASH when either:
  1. selecting “Power Off Card” the SI3132 menu at the top of my Mac’s display to before removing this eSATA Xpress card
  2. just removing this eSATA Xpress card (without using the SI3132 “Power Off Card” selection above)
This means that I now have to Shut Down every time I want to remove this eSATA Xpress card since updating to MacOS Sierra 10.12… which could be removed PERFECTLY for the past 5 years and with 3 different versions of MacOS (10.8, 10.9 and 10.10).

Please post this on your MacBook Pro owner reports on ExpressCard/34 Cards page (http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/express34_card_reports.html#storytop this in MacOS 10.12 Sierra).

Hopefully another SI3132 Xpress card owner will have:
  • a solution OR
  • know how I can contact Silicon Image to update their drivers… to resolve this ASAP.
Thanks!

The SiI3132 drivers linked to here work for me through Sierra. They cause a kernel panic on High Sierra, however. Maybe this Sonnet company can put pressure on SiI to update them? This is pretty severe.

I emailed Sonnet. They told me to buy one of their newer cards. I asked if they work with FIS-based port multipliers and am waiting on a response, but my presumption is that they don't. Shame.

Reopening this old thread just in case... has anybody a pci1095, 3132 eSATA card working on a MacPro under Mojave? I had severe crashes when enabling the Sonnet kext. Alternatively, any other card that works for sure? Thanks

I've got a Silicon Image "chipped" miniPCIe to eSATA card working in a iMac late 2006 under Mavericks 10.9.5. On this machine only the "RAID" driver is working .
