Odd. Mine's just plain black. No graphic, no text, nada. (I'd take a pic but the only two digital cameras I have are the MB's built-in iSight which probably won't capture it well, and the iPhone's camera )

how strange my iPhone has that bell drawing on my switch, wonder why my iPhone has it and the other iPhones I've seen doesn't have it and the switch is a little wider also

My iPhone have the bell also. I got my iPhone the first day it came out. Maybe the earlier ones have the bell on them?

Having the graphic is useful (rather than a "try me?" blank button), but I have to admit the blank button does look better; and given Apple's 'previous' of form over function, it's not surprising they shipped without.

It may be they had a small initial run of production iPhones with the icon for external testing etc.; perhaps the remainder of that batch were sold.

Mine has the Bell. I have a 4gig 5 series screen bought the first day. two of my friends also have the bell, one 4g and one 8g both 5 series screens and also bought the first day.

there is a thread on apple about it but it died a while ago. search for "silent bell" and you will find it.

It seems that most phones do not have the bell. i figure the only significance is that in 25 years it will be worth 10% more because it is slightly rarer(sp?).

I got mine on june 30th..I wanted to avoid the lines..my iphone ringer button is black...I'm gonna take my iphone back right now and demand one with a proper logo...

I don't have it, thankfully. I think it's ridiculous to have something printed on the switch. I mean, after you use it one time, you know what it does. Not like you will cause data loss or something if you switch it. Printing a bell on it is a waste of time. There couldn't be a safer, more harmless "try me" switch!

I bought mine on 08/04/2007 in southern california and mine has a very bright orange dot when i switch it to silence. Anyone have this kind of switch.

Bought my first one in Socal on 8/14, had nothing on switch. Unit was replaced because of hardware issue, new one as orange dot. The first unit
was from an ATT store, the second one from an Apple store.
