Hi,
is it normal that the iPhone's silent button has no effect on Youtube videos ?

Thanks,
Tex

Not just Youtube, but also ipod, video, podcast etc.

iPhone silent mode is only for incoming signal, because obviously when you CHOOSE to play a video or song you WANT to hear the sound too!

hmm well I found this totally not user friendly. When I chose the silent mode, I want the phone to be silent no matter what happens. Even if I choose to play a video.

It's like on my mac, when I hit the mute button, there is no sound coming out. Why should it be different on an iPhone ?

Because Mac is not a phone, there is no incoming signals that may get you in trouble when your in a meeting. :)

of course there are : chats, skype ...

In the same time, there are situation on the iPhone when you want to watch the video without a sound.

This morning I wanted to watch a video, I muted the phone but the video played full volume waking up my girlfriend.

Thankfully there are no X videos on youtube :)
