Silent mode off, but no SMS sound? Possible?

I have been trying every combination of settings I can think of, but I want my phone to ring, but have no SMS sound, but still vibrate.

If I have my phone set to ring with no SMS sound, the phone doesnt vibrate when i get a new SMS....blah Can you enable vibration when sound is on?

You can jailbreak your phone and then physically remove (or rename) the SMS sound file. But I don't think there's any way to do it without jailbreaking...

Jailbreak it, make an aiff file that is silence for (say) 5 seconds, follow the instructions on this forum to make that your SMS alert, and you're done.
