I have had the black silicone 7 plus case for a week now. I'm a clean person and take good care of all my equipment.

Why is it discolouring or leaving marks where I hold my phone?

Anyone else with silicone cases have anything similar occur? Is this normal?

I'd discard use immediately; it's going to make your hand fall of.

On a serious note, never seen anything like that. Return to Apple ASAP. Those are too expensive of a case to be anything but perfect

Having seen others with Apple silicone cases, they are not very good in terms of longevity (I'm taking months not years). I'd get a Spigen Liquid Armor case if you can't get a replacement.

I have a red silicone case that i used with my 6 plus and now my 7 plus. Mine looks new. I only wash it with dish soap about twice a week.

I've been using a Liquid Armor from day one of having my 7 Plus. Great case. I've never seen anything like those splotches on a case. Even cheap Amazon TPU cases I've had for a 6 Plus. I've never tried the Apple cases because of the open bottom.

I've got a diztronic matte black also for my 6 Plus. Another great case for 9-10 bucks
Been meaning to snatch one for the 7 Plus in a different color

More than likely, the discoloration is due to the silicone case being in contact with heavy clothing dye. The constant rubbing (as can be the case if kept in a front pocket etc). can cause what your attached picture shows. Your case isn't defective.

I wear normal dress pants 99% of the time and so I don't think that may be the case. Went to the Apple Store; they deemed if not normal and replaced it straight away! New one seems to be doing well so far

This happened to mine after a few days. I play games on my iPhone, and I think my constant gripping of the phone resulted in the discoloration. I returned mine to the Apple Store.

I'm now using the Spigen Thin Fit. It's a similar case, except it's made from some kind of rubbery PC and was a lot cheaper. It seems to wear a lot better, and also does not attract as much lint.

I really liked the look of the black silicone case but ended up returning it after a couple of days for this exact reason. It was an absolute fingerprint/oil magnet, and I'm pretty clean.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Might just go in store and exchange it for the black leather case :)

so I've had the replacement silicone black iPhone 7 plus case for 5 days... treating it carefully. It hasn't discoloured like the last one, but the silicone has already started wearing off the bottom corners. This is a pic of one corner yesterday, and it is similar on the other corner too. Looks slightly worse than yesterday. For $59 Aussie Dollars ($43 USA), I expect much better.

Anyone have experience with the black leather and how that holds up over time? I prefer the grippiness of the silicon, I think the leather may be too slippery.

I honestly don't have any experience with Apple cases for any device.
If you are going to get another case check out the Spigen cases like mentioned before.
I don't know the price of Spigen cases in Australia but I'm sure much cheaper than Apple cases.

I have had the iPhone 6 Leather case for my 6 and 6s (2 years) and it wore nicely. It had many dings and scratches from drops and abuse and it always just felt better in the hand as time went on. I got another leather case from Apple for my iPhone 7 Plus, and it is even nicer in terms of grain and build quality out of the box. Metal buttons are a choice feature.

As an aside, with both cases I carved out a spot to put a metal plate for the magnetic dash mount I have in my car. No bulge under the case now, and is cleaner than putting a plate on the outside. They make a good pair.
