Not really click bait question. I’m a bit enamored with the MacBook Air M2, even though I own the iPad Pro M1. Certainly there are other points to debate about the two differ t devices. I’m just wondering if any M1 iPad Pro users have added an M2 MacBook Air M2 and felt a performance boost Given the platform differences?

I have both. They are both "Zippy" and performance for general consumption is comparable using Safari, Mail, Photos, etc. The iPad Pro screen (12.9) and audio however is much better but the M2 Air display/audio is no slouch either.

I prefer the laptop form factor after trying the iPad as a laptop replacement. It could do what I needed but I was left wanting and missing the lappy form factor I had with my M1 Air and the '15, 12" Macbook I had prior.

The iPad is a great tablet and the M2 Air is a fabulous laptop. It is a tough call and one that took me months to decide.

M1 12.9 iPad Pro feels zippier because of the 120hz display. The M2 MBA feels a bit sluggish with that 60hz display.

I don't know how the M1 iPad Pro is in this regard, but my 2017 model loves to reload Safari tabs, usually with an older cached version too. So just getting rid of that would be a big improvement.

On top of that just having a normal desktop system is appealing to me. If I had a M1 iPad Pro I don't know if I would change, but since I have such an old model I don't see myself buying another iPad Pro and will pick a M2 Air or M1 14" Pro at some point.

I have a M1 Pro MBP, previously a M1 MBA and a M1 iPad Pro 12.9". I don't think its a case of one being more responsive that the other, its more of a case of the tactile feel of using an iPad to browse the web, which I find preferable to a mouse, but if I am typing then I generally prefer the tactile feel of a physical keyboard than an on screen one.

So browsing the web, reviewing emails and watching movies I prefer the iPad. Productivity Apps and typing I prefer to use the MBP.

I have both, but can't say that I notice any difference between the two devices. They are both extremely responsive.
The only time I experience delays on either device is when loading Internet content. Even though I have a 1Gb connection, sometimes the servers on the other end aren't responding very quickly, so you end up waiting a bit for things to happen. It's just the way the Internet works and doesn't reflect badly on the connected devices.
