Sim card?

Aloha,
I wanted to know I have a first generation iPhone and its not in use because I purchased the new white iPhone 3g I wanted to know am I able to use the new sim card from white phone and input it into my old iphone? Will it work? That would be cool if it did. I haven't tried yet? Please help?

I try'ed the new sim card from the white iPhone 3g input it in the old iPhone it doesnt fit!

I understand all sim cards are the same size the new white iPhone 3g sim card cannot fit in the old iPhone It will not go all the way down the plastic that goes around the sim card will not able to slide all the way down.

The sim card comes out of the black or white carrier, then you put the sim card into the aluminum carrier.

Okay I got that now i put the new iphone sim card in the aluminum carrier and when I power it on it doesn't work cannot activate? Will it work or is there something I need to do. I greatly appreciate your help on this!
