I just got a new macbook 2ghz 2gig ram and Nvida graphics card. I have read many horror stories about Sim City 4 on the intel macs, however I am not sure how old some of these stories are and also it seems like there have been some patches released. Has anyone tried this game on a newer macbook with latest patches etc. I would love to buy this game but am hesitant as it seems that there has been a lot of trouble with it on intel macs.

If I recall correctly, the last patch was to make SC4 Universal (to run on Intel) and there have been no new patches since. So I'm sure those experiences would still apply. I recommend that you just run it on Boot Camp. That's what I do.

I just run it in Bootcamp as the Windows version is easier to find and cheaper. Though yesterday I did find a copy of the Mac version at a used bookstore for $25. It was sans Rush Hour expansion. You can get the Windows "Deluxe Edition" which has Rush Hour for $20 or less at most retail places and cheaper on Amazon.
