Should I have ordered a sim free phone? I am buying it under the Apple upgrade program. What will be the difference? Everything is set in my cart for an ATT phone but it will be unlocked right.... and the store is down now obviously.
Thanks!

Apple Upgrade iPhones are always unlocked. SIM free through the program means just that - there's no SIM in the phone. The "carrier" phones have that carrier's SIM in it but it isn't tied to your cell phone plan or contract in any way. But they are all unlocked. I think it was last years phone that had a different/additional band for AT&T phones than the T-Mobile ones but they are all the same this year it looks like.

They required carrier activation/proof in previous years and didn't have that SIM free option for the Upgrade Plan until this year, likely to avoid fraud in the growing-pain years of the program.
