I'm on AT&T and will be travelling and have the Geavy Sim Unlock. Will that work with jb 2.2?

Which iPhone do you have? Geavy Sim? What is that?

To unlock a first generation iPhone, just use Pwnage or QuickPwn.

iPhone 3G are not unlockable via methods outside Apple. Using xSIMs to unlock is considered illegal in many places.

I mean GEVEY-3G (Turbo-Sim). In terms of legality, its a grey line. Pwaning the phone itself voilates TOS.

Typically any phone purchased with an exception to apple's iphone 3g god phone, are unlockable by the provider, provided you fulfill their contract.

Now the usage of GEVEY-3G works well with 2.1 and I believe that does not work any more with the 2.2 update. Would like to have an update if anyone has tested this scenario out yet.

Pwnage violates TOS for AT&T or other carriers, but does not violate international laws. Worse can happen is your service being cut and contract terminated without ETF.

Unlike xSIM solutions which are in a grey area that can go illegally or legally (highly likely goes through the illegal lines). Minimum is some huge fine and maybe with some time in prison being someone's senorita. (Sorry had to be said;)).

Puns and everything apart, its best to avoid xSIM soultions.

The baseband is updated with 2.2 and will patch the holes that let the Gevey cards work. So you need to use Pwnage tool NOT Quickpwn and update the iphone that way, and make sure to not update the baseband. If you do that then the Gevey card will still work. go to http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ for more detailed info.

Now this was the response I was looking for. Not the above Legal, prison etc!!
For windows there is nothing more than quickpwn right? Will there be a solution coming out shortly?

Thanks I was trying to stay on topic ;). Right now there only quickpwn for windows. The dev team only programs for OS X. Unless someone takes the time to port it to windows it's not happening.

WinPwn, but cmw has been slow to update it.

To the OP, I mention all the legal bullcrap because its a warning. Dev Team mentions it for people's own good. They even went through the hassle (Zf_ specifically) of investigating it in order to support it. But as said, they don't and instead warn people not to.

I may look like the bad one here, but later, when someone ends up in the Party V&, no one can say "no one told me"

PS - Google what party v& means if you don't know ;)
