Sometime soon I'm planning on getting a MBP, probably after the next model update (I'm at the very least looking at a 17" w/ 2 GB RAM...probably will upgrade the RAM to 4GB via third party instead of Apple's ridiculously inflated prices).

That said, I'd love to get into SimCity 4, despite it being an older title; always been interested in the series, but my experience goes about as far as SimCity for the SNES and SimCity 2000 for the PC. Is there any issues I would experience if I go this route? Reading some of the different threads on this title and some of the Amazon reviews (though really old) make me hesitant about getting the game for this; things like glowing buildings, artifacts, choppiness, crashing. Have these issues been since resolved?

I tried installing Sim City 4 through Boot Camp (1.1, not 2.0) and it always hung on the second disc. I've read of similar problems with this title on the internet, so I don't think it's my discs.

I have it for my iMac G5 1.9, with 1.5gb of ram, it runs smoothly on medium high settings, and I've never had any trouble with it, these issues of choppyness, are they supposed to be Intel Mac related?

From what I've read, I believe so; not positive ATM. It is nice to see that there's people who aren't having any troubles with it however. Since I will be doing some freelance design work on occassion, I want to have more than the 2 GB of initial RAM, so it sounds like it won't be too much of a problem running it, if any.

jadedmonkey, is your MBP a recent one (SR?) or have you had it for some time?

I have had some graphics issues under 10.5.1 on my MBP. I've got 4GB of RAM, but it still is a little laggy. For instance, the roads tool in invisible some times. Now I haven't tried SC4 under 10.5.2. Maybe it has been fixed.

I love Sim City! though I'm no good at it. First PC video game I ever played.
I had 4 for the PC and had issues with it when it first came out. But soon afterwards patches fixed the problem so it should be alright.
The current MBPs will handle the game just fine

Get the Deluxe Mac Version (included SC4 and the Rush Hour expansion pack), then before running it, goto Aspyr.com and download the universal update. You should then be fine. If you really want to get into the game, visit http://www.simtropolis.com or http://sc4devotion.com both sites have a lot of custom content for the game and other improvements, like rual highways, roundabouts, light rail/trams, and many new bridges. Also, the people at Simtroplis even have an Omnibus for the Mac user to get the hang of the game, and even a set of recomended plugins to make the game better.

Excellent. Thanks for the info!

Once I get around to getting my new machine (new job starting next Monday, more $$$ rolling in), I'll definitely pick this up, even though I think it's still $60.
