I wrote a tutorial, using Blender 3D, on how to make clouds easily in Blender. It IS Blender specific, but I didn't use any special features of Blender as far as I know, so you can probably use it for Max3D or whatever you use. Feel free to share the tutorial, take credit for it, edit it, host it on your site, whatever. I don't mind at all. The link is right here.

I'd agree, it's very very simple. Almost unusable in the real world.

Almost  I'd have said unusable. I know blender is free and its not as powerful as 3DS Max etc but sometimes making a tutorial (implies indepth knowledge to me) on something that isn't really that good (sorry but I do 3D work for a living) probably isn't the best thing to do.

Anyone who needs to do clouds in 3D will either use particles or texture map the scene background, unless of course they're doing a 'cartoon' style render in which case they would probably model a single 3d 'blob' shape and add a texture to suit styles.

All the op has made is several white blurry circles (spheres) over each other which at best give a cloud shape. It may have worked better if there was gradient/fade/opacity etc in the sphere materials but even then it not really '3d' as its still on a 2d plane of the environment, a real cloud usually doesn't use just one direction to spread into. Everything that was done in blender could have been done in a few minutes using photoshop too.

it's called a simple cloud for a reason...

I don't have in-depth knowledge of Blender in any way. This was just a literal midnight idea that actually made sense and worked in the morning. I know a really good cloud uses particles and all that, but this is for people who don't know how to use that stuff/don't want to [yet]. Also fooling around with the settings could produce better results. And some people don't have/don't want to use photoshop to create a cloud. Also my tutorial gives some basic knowledge of Blender.

Anyways, you're both entitled to your opinions :)
