Not a Mac expert so i require a simple solution to speed up my Mac. the problems are:

*slow browsing
* when i type, like here for example, the text lags. I might have finished typing a sentence but the text still takes time to complete

In a PC you can defrag and clear Temp files, but what can i do for my Mac to inprove the speed? Please give me simple advise. Wouldn't want to download a program for this or that, just a simple way to improve my iMac Speed.

Appreciate Your Assistance.

What iMac do you have? How much RAM does it have? You can try repairing permissions with Disk Utility

I've found the program CleanMyMac to be quite helpful. I know there are other similar options, but can't think of titles at the moment. It will clean universal elements from installed programs (PowerPC compatibility) as well as clear cache and other junk files. Helps to keep your system optimized.

Clean my Mac's never given me any problems and I've used it quite regularly. Can you point to these threads old-wiz?

OP is your hard drive filled to bursting point? I found on an older iMac that I was having this problem until I did a full OS reinstall. Primarily due to lack of virtual
memory available to the CPU.

If it is an option, I'd recommend putting all your important files on an external HD and reinstalling OSX.

So theres really nothing wrong with your Mac, but something wrong with surfing the net, right?

All the rest of the actions on your Mac work fine, correct? It would help to diagnose the problem if you can confirm that.

You know, like saying "My car is broken where do i get it fixed?" -- but that could mean 100 different things... maybe you got a flat, or the transmission is shifting bad, or you are just out of gas.

Because running Clean my Mac will do nothing to help net browsing speed if thats your issue. Like adding gas to your car to "fix" it when its got a flat tire.

Assuming it is just browsing -- have you cleared caches or reset Safari? (guessing you use Safari?) Do you have the same issue with Firefox? or Chrome? or Camino? or omniweb?

More info needed...
