I got a 3g iphone from a friend.

IT is not activated i do not want to sign a new contract with att

I have a att 3g sim card

now

Can i activate it using pwnage?

OR only make it useable like an ipod touch

I have activated before and it just gives me no signal

so is this possible?

Yep, sure is.

To get a signal with AT&T you need to jump through a few hoops unfortunately though...

1. Use Pwnage to pwn it with a custom firmware that uses hack activation. This whole activate the phone but you won't have a signal.
2. Sync the phone, making sure you have a backup of it.
3. Restore the phone and make a new custom firmware, but do NOT hack activate it.
4. When it has been restored with the new firmware it won't be activated... Plug it into iTunes and restore the phone from the backup it made.
5. You should get signal. Might take a few minutes for the first time, but it should definitely work.

i do all this but i cant restore from backup itunes does not give me the optiion it says sim card inserted in this iphone is not supported ive tried the blank sim that came with the 3g and my blackberry 3g sim
