We recently got my grandmother an iPad so that she can continue to write letters to her friends with the talk to text function of the keyboard. She’s 92 years old and can no longer write things by hand but uses her iPhone talk to text to send text messages. The native app doesn’t allow for a change in font size, especially when printing, but is the easiest to use as far as user interface? Is there another app that is simple like the native app, but allows for changing a font, especially when printing

Hunh? The Notes app (the white icon with the yellow stripe on the top) is a more full-featured word processor than WordPerfect ever was. A gazillion fonts, style sheets, formatted lists … you name it.

The next step up would be Pages, which puts desktop publishing applications from the ’90s to shame. More to the point, it’s almost as trivial to use as Notes, plus it includes all sorts of templates for all the things people are likely to want to make and print at home.
