I know this may be a dumb a$$ question but i'm just uninformed so please forgive me. Anyway, I want an apple laptop, and i know Apple no longer sales the Powerbook- they now have the Mac Books.

I know the MacBooks are the replacements for the iBooks but are they also the replaceements for the Powerbooks as well? or is the MacBook Pro the replacement for that?

basically i'm asking because i want to get the most powerful laptop Apple has to offer that would be their upper echelon in their laptop line.

thanks in advance

Macbook = ibook
Macbook Pro = Powerbook

:)

Yes, the MacBook Pros are the PowerBook replacement, and the MacBooks are the iBook replacement.

Both are significantly more powerful than the laptops they replace.

just want to throw in there in case you care: the difference between a MB and a MBP is a lot smaller than was the case between the ibook and PB.. the MBs are quite powerful in of themselves

Agreed... The only real significant difference is the screen size and the GPU, and the fact there is no 2.16 GHz Macbook... yet.;)

Also, a 7200 RPM drive isn't available on the MB.
