Hello all, I've been searching form a simple RTS game without the political side of games. I am looking for something like "Black Gold WWIII". an older game to be sure.
Here is the description. Something not complicated, gather resources, research tree for vehicles and such. I don't want to have to micro manage that game. I have Stellaris, great look, but too much time to manage the game. I used to play the EA Rome games for an older Mac OS, those were a bit too much to just play for a short time. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it. Mini M4 Pro stock system. Thanks in advance.

According to Steam, not Tahoe compatible. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the info. I'm still running Sequoia and it runs great.

When I upgrade to Tahoe, I guess I'll run it under Crossover.

Edit: Where did you find the info on "Master of Orion" not running under Tahoe ? The game is 64 bits and is incorrectly labeled as 32 bits in the Steam store page.

That was posted under the main window. That info has kept me from choosing a bunch of steam games. Do I take a chance. let me take a screen shot.

I have heard of "Crossover". I think I will need to dig further. "An informative link, please?" Much thanks.

That is often incorrect. I have a few games marked as that and they run fine on every post Catalina OS release. Steam has a forgiving return policy. if you think you want it get it and if it doesn't run return it within a couple of hours.

It's mislabeled on Steam. "Master of Orion" runs great for me under Sequoia so I'm confident it will work under Tahoe.

The only issue people have had is a display resolution mismatch in the game settings.

As far as Crossover, Codeweaver has a compatibility database for Windows games and gives a 2 week trial.

I myself use it to run older, no longer supported MacOS games that will still run under Windows or games that don't have a Mac port.

Not all games are supported in Crossover, it will not work for games that use anti-cheat, and its performance is heavily dependent on your Mac hardware. For me, it works surprisingly well.

What is the “political” side of the game?

I assume they mean how in some games there's a component where you have to ask for votes from citizens or try to negotiate treaties with other groups. Civilization is very much like this.
Not necessarily that, I just meant that some games have "factions" "trade groups" and the like. I would prefer a simpler game where I don't have to manage the boring parts of games. I hope that makes sense.

That is just my term for the parts of the games where you need to deal with "leaders" or "trade groups". I was looking for something without those aspects of the game.
I liked game like Oblivion and Skyrim (Bethesda RPGs) because those mechanics had factions, but it was relatively easy to come in and eventually take over those factions, like becoming head of the Mage’s guild. :)
