Sims 3: upgrade to Snow Leopard?

I have The Sims 3 base game and Late Night. All the settings are on low quality, but my game is still very slow. Would it help if I upgrade to Snow Leopard? Currently, I have Leopard (10.5.8).
I have a Macbook (white), 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
