That's laptop memory. It's not gonna work on your iMac. The kind of RAM you need depends on what iMac you're running.
Keep in mind that the minimum specs posted on the official site are what is required to simply run the game... not necessarily run the game
well, with all settings maxed. EA lists the bare minimum required:
* Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
* Intel Core Duo Processor
* 2 GB RAM
* ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100.
* At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
* This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems, or the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards.
Upgrade your RAM as much as you can. AT LEAST to 2 GB. And, check what video card you have; what EA is listing (128 MB dedicated) is pretty low for this game. Sims 2 ran passably at 128 mb, on my old computer, at medium settings but runs great with settings maxed, at 256 MB on my MBP. You'll also need to make sure your OS is upgraded to at least Leopard, as stated in the minimum specs.
I beta-tested for the game at EA, and the machines we used had very high-end graphics cards and lots of RAM. The game loaded in under a minute. Whole different story when the game was released, and we played at home on our own computers. =P
