Hi all,

My wife has a MBP (intel from 2017), she only uses it for playing sims on it but she has no space left. There is nothing on it other than some smaller apps and Sims - the HD is 250gb (I think) and a lot of the storage is taken up by the OS.

Is there a way to fee up space and perhaps run Sims from an external SSD?

I appreciate my question may not be suitable for here and perhaps more suitable for a specific gaming forum but I thought I'd ask.

TIA.
B.

I don't have an answer for you, but I love that you asked. My daughter loves Sims, and has kept her old computer just to play it. Plus, I love that you're willing to roll out a tricky old gaming questions for your wife. I hope you get an answer soon.

Ok, I felt guilty for not having an answer. I did a simple google search and found that you should be able to offload the Sims app from an external drive. I won't try to totally replicate the process because I am not totally sure what your setup is, but essentially, you need to format an external drive as an APSF format. You can either drop and drag the Sims app on the drive or install onto that drive. I included intel Mac/MacOS in my search parameters, but I am not 100% sure it will work for your particular Mac. I hope this helps. Although, hopefully others will join in the discussion.

Thank you @BlairMALL - I'll have a look about and see what I can sort.

Also having an issue with my MBP which I need to research before posting!

Thanks again,
B.

I get it. I have several older Mac’s and it is constant techno triage at my house. My MBP 13” (2017) is flaking out. Hanging on to upgrade to an M4, but still love the older form factor.
