After I installed Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C94b) Beta, I have not been able to play Utube videos and other video clips using Safari with out a very low resolution and with out stopping and buffering pauses. The Utube videos show that they are setting up at 140p...not even 1440p. The images are very fuzzy. Prior to this all was fine. I reset the PRAM and still no better. I am not the best technically, but has anyone else seen the same issue and have a tweak here? Otherwise all is good. By the way I have an i5 stock model 5k iMac.

why are you installing betas?

Curiosity and general interest...also I having fun kicking new stuff around and my machine is a hobby!
More so, I was hoping that someone would reply on topic. If you have a technical idea please let me know. It would be well received.
Thanks!

Betas are for people who can help resolve issues or at least report them to Apple, best to do that. Can you revert back and confirm the problem is properly isolated to this Beta build?

Report it to Apple then. Isn't that the entire point of beta testing?

I have reported to Apple and if I feel so, I can revert to a prior installation? Have you seen what I have indicated in my original post in your experience with my iMac 5k as per your experience? If so, please offer a technical idea. This is not a complaint or an unusable issue.

You should revert to your previous installation to determine if this is a build-related issue or something else in the Youtube stack that has just happened coincidentally, many things in the internet may cause your symptoms.

No I haven't seen your issue personally (other than the same symptoms caused by general internet issues on many occasions).

Thanks for the answer, but my iPad can play the same video on the same internet connection quite well. I guess I will reload my system by way of Time Machine to a date prior to the beta and see what happens. My original reply was hoping that someone who had a similar problem had a simple fix.
thanks!

I don't think that playing it on your iPad can isolate the issue as being related to the beta build 10.10.2, unless you found a way to install Yosemite on your iPad. (if you did, I am sure that many people on this forum would like to try it.)

Have you checked to make sure that everything else is up to date? (i.e.: your flash player and other stuff that is installed?)

Have you tried a different browser? Are you using Safari? Try other browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc... to see if it is isolated to Safari.
Do you have any adblockers installed. It's possible that you might have some software that is blocking the videos. Disable any adblocking extensions. If you have a "modified hosts" file, try replacing it with the original, and see if your issue clears up.

You might want to install MacUpdate Desktop, run it and see if any of your software is out of date. (please no jabs about installing useless software)

You can also install EtreCheck, it might give you a clue about something that may not be compatible.

Try chrome and see if it works better.

I have a feeling that adobe flash isn't fully compatible with whatever changes apple made to safari.

Thanks for a technical response. I wish you had made the first reply on my string! I will give it all a go and report back!
Good job!
