Hello, I‘ve a iPhone 7 and an iPad Air 2 both currently running (unfortunately) under iOS 11.2. Since 11.2 I‘m not able the use the mail app anymore on both devices, it always crashes at the start. I have an outlook.com account. I’ve already tried to delete and set up my account once again in mail but the problem remains the same. Does anyone has something simular? Any ideas?
On the AppleWatch (4.2) the same mail account works fine…

Delete the Mail application and reinstall it from App Store again. This may help.

Good point but unfortunately not .
I deleted the mail app and deleted my account in settings, account & pw and finally restarted the iPhone. After reboot I downloaded the mail app and set up my account but still the same issue.
Any other ideas? This really gets annoying

I would try signing out of iCloud, then back in. This has fixed lots of odd issues for me in the past.

Gave it a try, but failed :-(
My icloud.com mailaccount works without an issue, but outlook.com still doesn't work. Apple must have changed something in iOS 11.2, I never have had an issue with mail like this before

Dang. Reset All Settings? Beyond that, only a restore which can be quite time consuming. I’ve heard an update (iOS 11.2.1) is coming this week which may fix it for you. My father-in-law was having issues with a couple of his mail accounts on 11.1.2 and I was only able to sort out a couple of the issues. However, once he updated to iOS 11.2, all issues were resolved. Maybe the same will happen for you with the next update.

Yeah, I‘ll put my hope in a future update. Would be nice if 11.2.1 would fix it this week. At the moment I‘ve installed the Outlook app, but I prefer the onboard mail

The stock mail app has been the biggest POS app for me since iOS 11

From constant crashes to freezes ( when selecting multiple mails to delete ) to not receiving mails !!

Switched to outlook (which I absolutely hate on Windows since they took away the combined inbox ugh!! ) and all is well!

Just update to iOS 11.2.1 a few moments ago, and still the same!
Differerent update, same sh*t. WTF

By the way, the Outlook app works without an issue but has never the same possibilities as Mail has. In my case Outlook is just a workaround until Mail is fixed

I have also an outlook account but no problem with the Mail app

Interesting, I‘ve a ****@msn.com address which should be the same as hotmail.com or outlook.com. I also think there are many users which have iOS 11.2 installed with an Outlook address and everything is fine. I haven‘t found users discussing this error in the forums, right here I‘m quite alone aswell.
There for I think the trigger is something else, like an email in the inbox with special characters which causes the crash of the mail app. I‘ve also already disabled 2 factor auth, bit still the same

I’ve not had any crashes but my mail app is crazy slow now. I’m on an iPhone X running 11.2. It didn’t seem this bad before 11.2. It’ll show I have new mail on the app screen then it takes forever for the messages to load when I open the app.

I‘ve tried to setup my msn.com address on my iPhone at work (iPhone 6). But it has the same behaviour, Mail crashes. There for I suggest a reset would not help

In the meantime I‘ve found a pretty good workaround. You must not add an outlook.com account under accounts, you have to choose other. This won‘t use the predefined outlook settings, but at least Mail works without crashing. But it looks like push isn‘t available with this method

Hi, I tried to pevent my iPhone 6 to update to iOS 11.2.2. Apple is such a drag telling me every single night that it will be updated tonight. So one fine evening it seems that I did not pay attention and the update was installed. Since then my mail crashes - I can't use it any longer.
I unfortunantely do not have any solution (which is anyway not possible with any Mac OS!) but just wanted to say here that Apple sucks sooooo much!
If any other producer of software or even f***g laundry machines would do such a thing they would be out of business within a day. But Apple can treat and milk their customers they way they want - it's just horrible. "Why don't you change to Android or whatever", you might think now? May be you're right, but ther you will encounter the same ****..... I really think sometimes why do I use this **** any longer and pay these ugly idiots their salaries? Shame on you Apple idiots!

With a little research you could of installed the tvOS beta profile and you would of never received another notification to update again. I agree, having issues with your phone can definitely be challenging but, just like everything else, this too will pass with future updates. I had awful issues with the mail app all through iOS 10, as soon as iOS 11 came out, all the problems disappeared. Everybody’s experience is different.
