Since the iPad, I don't use pen and paper anymore.

Just a thought i figured i would share. I never had great handwriting and have always hated writing with a pen. The only time i ever used a pen and paper were in class, because a laptop just isn't the same and is annoying to take to school. When i got my iPad i started taking it to class with me, and since then i rarely ever pick up a pen. I go many days at a time without even touching a pen. I think my handwriting may have also gotten worse since then. I'm 21 years old and if it's like this for me, imagine the younger generation that's growing up with all this mobile technology. How about you guys? Do you hand write less than you used to? And is it necessarily a bad thing to hand write less and type more?

I don't use pen and paper anymore either. It's a combination of Evernote and Penultimate.

Be careful - keep them handwriting skills sharp for one reason, and one reason only. Love letters - I'm VERY interested in seeing what the younger generation is going to do about that when handwriting phases out properly.

Haha, well from what i understand my generation isn't much into letters, but if they were i don't see why they couldnt be typed. Where we lack in handwriting skills we make up in spine health, since we no longer need to carry textbooks and notebooks

Ha! I think my generation was the last to send notes like that.

The shame of it all is that we will never have hard copies of love letters or much of any other correspondence from many of the people of the future.

Oh it's not a common thing, by any means. I'm slightly fetishistic about still sending letters to people, but it's more like a 1 out of every 5 pieces of correspondence will be handwritten, and the rest emailed. Point being, Helvetica is pretty and all, but it doesn't say I Love You the same way

Interesting. My handwriting has decayed to the point of illegibility. I am not being funny or joking. I can barely write anything and resort to printing crude letters when I have to put something on paper or a black/whiteboard.

Not proud of it but it is a fact! Using keyboards has destroyed my penmanship.

Having never had good handwriting to begin with, my penmanship has only suffered minimally. My students have a hard enough time reading my handwriting, perhaps I will just switch to this and an LCD projector until retirement.

I use pen and paper, but only because I'm still at school. Once I leave I'll be using laptops and iPad screens instead, hopefully. Writing gives my hand cramp after a while anyway. It'd be awesome in the future if schools had iPads to write on instead of paper - too expensive though
