Siri and accents?

I heard that Siri has problems understanding people with accents that are not native to English Speakers.

Any of you have accents that are not native to English speaker and are working fine with SIRI?

It really depends on the accent. I have a mix of australian, british, american, and canadian accent (yes I am serious and my accent is something no one has ever heard before) and Siri works fine for me. On the other hand, a friend of mine has a very strong chinese accent and quite obviously Siri has trouble understanding it, as do I.

Siri has gotten some of my colloquial Pittsburgh words wrong and has a hard time understanding me if I talk as if I'm speaking to a local Burgher. But if I clean up my speech or emulate a Californian accent, it seems to understand me rather well. It also has a very hard time understanding my friend's "redneck" accent, he's from West Virginia.

I'm Scottish and Siri never correctly recognizes what I'm saying.

I tried the "What are you wearing?" one on my Dad's 4S and every - single - time - Siri kept saying he "couldn't understand 'What are you leaving' ..."

No idea how it could get "wearing" and "leaving" mixed up, but oh well.

BTW when I say "Call my mom" siri thinks "Call my memo"

Mom is clearly different from memo. WTF hahahha

I think slight tweak would be to just say "call mom"

They probably mean 'what is desi?'.

I've found no problems with my estuary accent with Siri in NY.

Drive Thrus in Queens, NY have problems with my accent though. Maybe a sign for me to not frequent those places though

I'm struggling to get it to work well with my accent. I'm from Northern Ireland and find I have to talk slower and really exaggerate my words.

I've not gotten to try it yet but I have a friend that works at AT&T and she says it has trouble with some really country Southern accents. She doesn't think I would have a problem because even though I have a definite Western North Carolina accent, it is nowhere near as heavy as some because I live in a city and not out in a rural area. I can't wait to try her for myself!
