I had this issue with my M1 iPad Pro where Find my would kill my battery in standby. If I went 3 days without using it after a full charge, battery would be down to below 50%. I ultimately removed all my AirTags and turned Find My off, and it still drained the battery, just less.

Everything seemed fine on my new M4 the first week. Last week I noticed it was down 40% overnight after a full charge. Looked up battery usage, and it was 100% Siri. I have it turned off for listening, and turned off for background. Support had me reinstall the OS which worked for a few days. Turned on my iPad today after charging to full Sunday, it’s down 27% in standby in 2 days, now showing Siri 65% and Find My 35%. Support isn’t what it used to be, and this is really frustrating. There are a few days a week sometimes where I’m on the road and not using the iPad much. I really hope I don’t go back to opening it after a few days from a full charge to have the battery drained and the iPad useless when I need it for services I’m not even using working in the background. I searched google and the forums, and read tons of people having the same issue, but no real resolutions that worked.

Is anybody else experiencing this, and anybody know of a potential solution?

Hey Rap, I don’t. I keep it in a leather pouch, and the pencil is not connected.

I think it’s software related, curious what you find. I’m considering starting the whole thing over again with it, wipe and start fresh.

I’m having the same issue on both the 11” and the 13” I have (likely will return the 13” because I don’t need both). I used 1 Apple Pencil Pro fairly sparingly on both iPads, so perhaps that is the issue if you aren’t seeing an issue before connecting the Pencil. Can’t wait for a software fix. The battery drain isn’t significant for me, just rather annoying that it’s worse than usual, especially when battery life seems to be slightly better than previous gens with normal use.

I’ve been dealing with it in different forms since the M1, some updates make it worse, some make it better, but nothing has yet to stop the issue completely. At this point, I deleted the Find My App, turned Find My off, and went into Siri settings and turned off all the “learn from” garbage in each app. That immediately seems to had fixed the Siri battery life. Hoping turning off Find my fixes that eating battery, I’ll keep this updated.

This week, I want to attempt to use my iPad exclusively for computing, and work to get maximum use on it.

This is really annoying. Friday evening, I charged the battery to full. Didn’t use the iPad yesterday, a few minutes ago I turned it on less than 48 hours later and battery was at 72%. Looked at what’s been using the battery, it shows 100% Siri. I really hope they fix it, I’ve emailed support after opening a case on this with multiple screenshots, and they haven’t responded.

Did you ever solve this? My M4 iPad Pro is experiencing this and nothing seems to fix it. (I’m on iPadOS 18.0.1)

so what I did is turning off refresh in the background off for all apps. This seems to help. My ipad now only drains 3% to 7% per night. Normally I now just turn my ipad off if I dont use it. So no real fix here just learning to live with it.

Same happening with me… I noticed a few weeks ago that my iPad air 5° was having the battery drain when suddenly I started to pick it up and it was turned off… I though it was Slack doing something on background and uninstalled. But today happened again and when I reach the battery stats it was shown that it was Find My… On my stats I can see clearly that it was idle just fine but suddently for no reason the battery start beeing drained.

Have to mention that this start happening on 17v… Now Im on 18.1 and still happening and there is no aparent reasons. It suddenly start draining until turn off…
