According to an Apple Support document, it's possible to ask Siri to change focus modes.

It's not working for me. I have one called "Travel" and Siri just moans that there's no app called "Travel Focus". I also have one called "Study" which Siri even more stupidly says "Reading Focus is not yet configured", and pronounces the word "reading" as the English town.

Christ on a stick, Siri is thick. Ah, that rhymes and is quite cathartic.

I'm assuming one can only have Siri change focus modes to pre-defined ones.

Yup Siri is an abortion!

If I say “turn off the do not disturb focus” (or on) that works but it won’t work for my custom “silent” one.

I have said it before and I will continue to say it, whoever is responsible for Siri at crApple needs sacking. They should just remove it… Without question it gets more retarded every year. And the crap they are going to come out with in iOS 18 with integrated AI is going to be laughable. They can’t get any of their services working reliably so **** knows how they think they can do AI integrated with Siri.

This works for me...partially. I asked Siri to turn on Work focus mode and Reading focus mode. No problem. I asked it to turn on Grocery Shopping focus mode and Evening focus mode, and Siri asks me "which switch" and presents me with a list of things to turn on from the Home app.

Let's hope this gets better when Siri gets a brain transplant as rumored in June.

Same, or just says I can’t do that.

Hand on heart, I don’t think it’s ever going to improve. It’s pathetic, it’s a joke, it’s not fit for purpose. It’s as weak as piss. Apple do not have the whereabouts, or the want to improve Siri because they would’ve done by now in my, admittedly incredibly biased, opinion.

Seemingly anything they touch with AI is just a cluster ****. Look at the new dictation, look at the new auto punctuation… Just doesn’t work properly. And also supposedly better this time around with improved machine learning.

This still doesn’t work in 18.1.

Thanks for letting me know. I can't run 18.1 as my phone is too old.

My understanding is the new "Apple Intelligence" is just for some new features, not to make Siri generally less stupid.

I mean, one new feature everyone is raving about - recording a phone call and transcribing it - why does that even need AI? The recording bit is a simple record, and transcribing is the same as me now talking to Siri and it working out what I'm saying. I can do all that on my iPhone 11.

I rarely record a call but I have before using Voice Memos from another device and started the recoding before the call. I’m lucky. Georgia is a one party notify state.
