On my iPhone 4S, whenever I hold down the home button for a few seconds to start Siri, it brings it up immediately but then seems to be frozen for about 4 seconds. The purple microphone circle is there, but it's not picking up any sound and touching it doesn't do anything. Not for 4 seconds anyway. After 4 seconds it does the 'ding ding' and the Siri microphone button becomes active.
Once Siri starts working there are no more delays/pauses/etc.

Is this normal? Assuming it is normal, my theory is that it's taking a few seconds to connect to Apple's Siri servers (we know the sound processing is done on Apple's side via network connection, not on the iPhone 4S which is why the "Siri needs the A5 processor's speed" thing is pure crap - they're limiting it to the new iphone for marketing purposes only). Anyone know for sure?

Amazingly I figured out the problem. I have a panasonic bluetooth handset thing, and for some reason when it is connected via bluetooth it causes siri to have this huge delay on startup. So, when I turned bluetooth off it immediately fixed the problem. Strange, annoying, and totally inconceivable.

I think it's inherent to all bluetooth headsets... At least all of the ones I've tried.

Does the Siri startup delay happen when any bluetooth device is connected to the iphone? The only other place I've heard about it is in conjunction with the specific Panasonic cordless bluetooth handset phone thing I have (lets you have a phone in each room that can use both your landline and cellphone connections).

My Jabra Freeway also causes a delay - one lasted about 10 seconds. Clearly Siri has a bug that causes bluetooth to mess it up. They need to fix this.
