On my iPhone 4S, whenever I hold down the home button for a few seconds to start Siri, it brings it up immediately but then seems to be frozen for about 4 seconds. The purple microphone circle is there, but it's not picking up any sound and touching it doesn't do anything. Not for 4 seconds anyway. After 4 seconds it does the 'ding ding' and the Siri microphone button becomes active.
Once Siri starts working there are no more delays/pauses/etc.
Is this normal? Assuming it is normal, my theory is that it's taking a few seconds to connect to Apple's Siri servers (we know the sound processing is done on Apple's side via network connection, not on the iPhone 4S which is why the "Siri needs the A5 processor's speed" thing is pure crap - they're limiting it to the new iphone for marketing purposes only). Anyone know for sure?
