Siri asks you to "confirm" when sending a text message but when my current girlfriend asks Siri to "Find Costco" and it thinks she said "Call AL (AL is initials of an ex gf)" and immediately starts dialing....no request to confirm or cancel....you can see the problem. Girlfriends think it is a little suspicious when you suddenly statch the phone out of their hand to hang it up and quickly put the phone in your pocket just in case AL decides to call back.

What are the chances of it randomly calling that one contact!!!!! I guess about 1 in 138 actually, not as random as i would have thought. Come on Siri, first you're against obortion and now you're against monogamy...make up your mind!!

Is there no way to "lock" specific contacts to where you wont accidently call them? I'm one of those who never deletes contacts. And I agree that would be the easy solution just to delete the contact. For the record I dont call AL but AL calles me every few months so i like to know when it comes up on my caller ID who it is ;)

1) Why do you still have a ex-girlfriend's number on your phone?
2) Why do you let you current girlfriend use your phone if you have your ex-girlfriend's number on your phone?
3) Do you really need to be told the solution is to delete your ex-girlfriend's name and number from your phone?

:)

I fail to see how deleting ex girlfriends are any kind of solution. I generally would like to know that it was an exgirlfriend that was calling rather than just a number.

LOL. "AL" sounds like "Costco?"

Do you actually have her listed in your phone as "AL"? Why don't you just put in her whole name. If you don't have such ambiguous sounding contacts, it's probably less likely that this carnival of fail will fail so failingly. :p

Unless you can do it by jailbreaking, I don't think there's a way to prevent Siri from calling certain people who're in your phone book.

Wow! Just wow!!!

Not a single old ex listed in my phone, there's a reason for the ex status and I prefer to stay away!!

This is more a problem with enunciation/accent than Siri's stand on monogamy. ;)

I have my ex gf's number, as well as her parents' cellphone numbers, and her home number. I just never bothered to delete it, and some of my friends' are hers too. It's not like it's a problem... is it?

why have your ex gf on your list still and hidden under the name "AL"??

if it's an accident seems kinda weird you'd snatch the phone out of her hand and stuff it in your pocket.

Wouldn't be very suspicious if it was titled like "crazy EX" or something like that haha

HAHA....I can EASILY tell who are males and who are females from these responses......

Maybe not a problem for you, but it would be for me. I prefer they not know how to reach me, ever, at all.

Most of the time looking at the username or profile pic reveals that too... :p

Back on discussion just the delete the ex's number if it bothers you, if it doesn't keep it no harm done and may be useful in the future in case you might wanna hook-up again

I don't mind if any of my ex's call me. They wouldn't mind if i called them either. We might have broken up but we stayed friendly.

Although i do understand the OP's point.

I sympathize with OP. If my currently girlfriend found anything related to my last girlfriend anywhere near me she would literally end my life.

Simple solution........

If you don't want any Siri problems change the name or delete altogether..

I do not see this sitution happening very often so just reduce stress/problems by deleting it if you aren't going to use it or just simple change the name to something like "chuck" or "Jeff"

So do you ladies delete all dudes out of your contacts when you're done with them? Don't you want to know if it was that guy that stalked you is calling you again? You keep his number in your phone for that reason but never, never would dare call him or chance Siri accidently calling him....

My last and final ex was my husband several years ago and nope, his number isn't in my phone.

sounds like both you an OP need to learn to not keep stuff when you shouldn't be keeping it.

If she would literally end your life, then that would be on par with.... oh i dunno a cop finding drugs/guns in your car?

Not a very smart place to keep them if you ABSOLUTELY have to keep them, and cops can totally find them on accident even if you are not looking for them

I agree. I love how people blame technology for their own mistakes. I also don't get wanting ex's numbers still and why people try to be friends with them. It's like these people needs a safety net or something.
If you want to keep their number, fine, but you get caught you have no one to blame but yourself.

Exactly! No one else and no program like Siri put that number in their contacts, they did it themselves.

There's a field in contacts for "phonetic first name". Siri uses that to pronounce names and also to recognize names. Just change the phonetic name to something bizarre and arbitrary that would never come up normally. Problem solved. Siri will never accidentally call the number.
