Siri issue, can you help?

Like many I have the Xfinity app on my i4S so I get push email notifications, even though comcast doesn't push to my mail.app. When I hear the tone I ask siri to check for new email, but there is none because the email doesn't push to mail.app so she says no new emails and I have to manually open mail.app (since Siri refuses to open mail.app) and check for emails.

How can I ask Siri to fetch for new email? How can I ask Siri to open mail.app without her saying she is not allowed to do so? One of these ways will need to be accomplished to get my Siri to fetch my comcast mail that I know is there because the xfinity app says it is, but the phone doesn't know it yet.

Siri can't check your mail for you, so if it isn't being pushed, your out of luck. There's no way to make Siri drag the mail in for you.

WEAK. If your phone is unlocked (IE- not passcode protected) Siri should have access to fetch mail. The phone itself can fetch mail on a schedule. That is a fail.

No its is simply currently a limitation of Siri (which is still in Beta).

Currently there are lots of actions that are out of scope, for example invoking an application, these actions will come into scope as Siri evolves and the OS is updated.. There are some actions for the native Mail app but as the previous poster said the read new mail command assumes that the application has already picked up the email.

If it s a POP3 account that you are trying to access you could get it to automatically pole for the email every couple of minutes then the command would notify you of new mail that has dropped in. As far as mail is concerned I think you are limited to requesting notification that you have new email (headers are displayed) and composing an email.

More will come in time for many of the apps but patience grasshopper..

All I mean by out of scope is that it hasnt yet been included as functionality yet. For any development you have to decide what you are going to include in a release and what you arent.. Given the possibilities for Siri it is impossible without infinite development resource to include everything. Apple decided which functions would be the most useful for v1 of Siri on the 4s.. thats not to say all the other things.. further application integration/3rd party app integration/app invoking etc won't be in there but they have to decide at some point which functions will make the first cut and which wont...

Siri is in beta as I said and I get the impression that the key aim at the moment is getting the cloud based siri engine as much exposure to different voices/commands from different languages/dialects etc ... and looking at it commercially, being able to market Siri in more languages therefore countries is going to provide more revenue than adding more functionality..

I think siri will grow significantly from the current function set but it will take some time.. Here in the UK I would just like to see some maps and business integration!
